Do you have a farmer's market near you?
I just went down to my local farmer's market in Crediton and the food there was fantastic!
Amoung other things, there were:
- Dozens of different types of marinated olives.
- A selection of home made pies (Including ostrich & cranberry and wild boar & apple.
- A variety of flavoured farm house sausages.
- Freshly baked breads
- Freshly pressed organic apple juice.
- All sorts of organic vegetables.
- Selection of smoked fish and meats.
- Locally made buffalo cheeses.
The list goes on and on...
Mmmmmm....I'm going to eat well tonight!

Oh, they're a great idea. They're held once or twice a month and only local farmers and producers can attend (from a limited radius around the town) and it's a way of getting fresh food direct and thereby cutting out the middle men (namely the supermarkets).
They go some way (although still far from it) to rivaling the great French town markets.

they have some around here, but they are mostly just fruits and veggies. Nothing exotic, just big, low prices produce.
Now in France however, there was a cart of spices from everywhere! twas neat

We have one, though we're lucky because it's on every week downtown. It's great, you can get food from different cultures.
