    Unhappy How can I define a hard-drive

    Hey forum.
My Windows went crazy so I have to boot from a boot-disk.
The problem is that when I do so, my hard-drive is not defined. And so I am paralised.

My Ques is: how can I define a hard-drive using DOS only.
and if possible how can I do the same for a CD drive?

first check your bios to see if it recognized the drive. If it doesnt, then either the plugs arent connected correctly or the jumpers are wrong or something is fried and you're screwed

Please be more explicit! Is a new computer or an older compuer?! Did you recently buy it?! Take this:

Just boot from a Win98 Bootable CD-ROM o floppy disk with fdisk.exe. Enter into the program fdisk after your computer boots. And press the key 4 to see all your aprtitions. If there is C: inactive partition i recomnd you to go and Actiovate the partiotion numer 1 of you Hard Drive. If you have the partition #1 active the ween you will press the key 4 (to show all yours drives and extend drives) must be with a "A" in face of C: (or what partition you have activated recomended C.

If you dont resolve that please write here! I try to help u!

if you have lost partition infomation on your hard drive you may have to re-partition and format and then re-install windows have you backed up your work before hand as you may have lost it already.

Which windows are u using 95/98 ME, NT, 2000 or XP and what size is your Hard Disk?

Probably worth taking the time to sort out what u need and how you need it, OS and size of partitions u want while you do this, as you dont want to end up doing again in the future cos u run out of room or something doesnt work correctly cos of ur OS
