In vb.net the compiler is free and microsoft make it available in an sdk download. That means if you wanted you could write all your code in notepad and then compile it with the free sdk. So the compiler is free and the actual designing software is what you pay $$$$ for.

Is this the same for vb6? Is there an sdk to download with a free compiler ?

Isnt ms visual installer for creating setup files once youve made a program. I mean something to compile vb source code into an exe
