    Karl, can you tell us a story???

    Maybe you can give us the whole thing, why it went down, how you finally found out, if any heads rolled, and how succesful is this fix going to be???


    PS... Perhaps you should send a notice out to the members that VBF is Back?

    After I couldn't login for a couple of days I contacted Karl. He in turn contacted the people at vbulletin who said
    The server that your board is currently on is a total and complete mess. We worked on it and we are unable to get it up and running. We have finally gained access to your data and will be moving your board... to another server ASAP.
    That (apparently) has now been done.

    Complete and total mess? Do the administrators of the remote servers not do any nightly tape backups or anything vaguely related to preventing things like lost users (just try finding Megatron!)

    Well, gang - I might be catching onto this thread a little late, but I'm willing to offer an explanation.

    Basically, our host went wappo. We have recently been using vBulletinHosting.com to host the site (partially supported by a temporary recipricol advertising agreement).

    Basically, they messed up. Their hosting resulted in a bag of downtime last week, a little lost data and a certain number of
    "tinkered" members accounts. We are attempting to fix these as much we can, however it's a little difficult due to the host (apparently) not keeping correct backups.

    We're back now, though -- and on a more stable server (one believes).

    However to ensure it doesn't happen again we're attempting to tie deals right now that will ensure we move to bigger and better servers. This will also fix any issues people have right now with PMs or avatars.

    I will let you know when anything is confirmed.
