My computer was working fine 2 days ago, and I decided I needed some virus protection(I dont really like mcaffee(OEM)), so I installed norton, system works,
everything worked fine, etc etc,
now for some reason, every time I create a new file(right click -> new -> text document) the desktop(or the folder I created it in and the desktop) freezes,
its really pissing me off.
I am thinking of reformatting, because I do need that again, but would defragging help this problem?
it is getting so damn annoying.
I either have to wait for the desktop to unfreeze or restart the computer, if I restart it still happens again
any advice on how to STOP THIS would be greatly appreciated.

Hmmm
You should try defrag first...then see what happens.

Hmmm...got something similar
We installed Norton utilities on Win98 machines and the friggin things freeze about 10 or so times a day. Even uninstalling the utilities leave the same problem. Ended up reformatting and slam dunking the utilities in the rubbish bin.
For anti_Yirus we use McAfee
