If you already knew VB6 or are some what advanced then I'd say 'Programming Microsoft Visual Basic .NET' by Francesco Balena. Its one of the core reference books and it covers just about everything.

I know very little VB, know more of VBScript.
I'll check out this book anyway, thanks for the tip.

I agree. I have Francescos book, and it is great and in depth but I mainly us it as a reference. The book I would recommend to start with is 'The book of VB.NET. .NET insight for VB Developers' by Matthew Mcdonald. It covers some things that the MS one dosn't such as Setup & Deployment and Matthew has been very helpful when I have had queries.

I really like Karl Moore's book: Visual Basic.NET The Tutorials

He covers a lot of ground that even a non-programmer like me can follow. He has a good sense of humor about it too.

    Good books?

Ive bought several... and read all of them, but what everyone seems to miss is explanations, yes, it tells me alot about what i need to know, but i would like to find a book that goes more into methods, modules, add-ons, refernces, and structure, and how to properly use them, any ideas on this?

if you want that kind of a book I say get Balena's book. It's VERY compelete (1600 pages) and it talks about classes, modules,.... and all that stuff in depth.

    read the reviews at amazon.com
(btw the person who rates this 1 is an compelete idiot, he complains about something that is explained in the book, but he has posted his review before even looking at the book )

    ehh a sample chapter: http://www.vb2themax.com/HtmlDoc.asp...ooks&ID=101000

and here's the table of contents:

umm also take a look at this book, I've read about 150 pages of it before and I liked it
