thoughts..... n' stuff.....

I have been thinking a lot lately(for a change )

and I wonder, when we look at something far away, a start for instance, why do we see it small and not its normal size?? I have a theory, but its a little hard for me to explain right now, as I just came home from a concert... (the smell of pot was heavy in the air)...
BTW has anybody ever been to a concert where you expect everyone to be not-so-good-looking, (Ok, so it was a stereotype which I dont like, but sometimes you cant help these things ) and there is this Amazingly HOT girl, dont want to get too <<>><<>> here, but she was wearing these short leather pants..... BRB in like 15 minutes!

sometimes I wonder why, and how stuff happens/is made.

is this normal??

because i always ask questions on what i dont know, and I always wonder about things, but other people when I look at them, they just have such a dumbfounded, empty-headed look on their faces, it seems that they cant be thinking of anything.....
and I barely ever hear anybody(besides me) ask a question when they hear something confusing, and I know they cant understand it!!
because they dont even know what it is(for example, if my brother see's a joke about some actreess or actor that lived in the 20's he hears the poeple on TV(filmed live) laughing, so he does, I know he cant understand it... first of all, and mostly, he hates any kind of hisory)

ok, that was rather confusing,

onto another subject, well its just kind of a sub-subject,

some people I know are just so incredibaly Stupid! that sometimes I feel like bashing my head against the wall.
and I am not kidding about this, sometimes i just hear something and I am like "how can I live in a place where people are so DUMB"
I have to put my pillow over my head to keep people from hearing my screams....
OK, I do need to go to a rage-aholics class, but thats another story
how are some people smart and some not?
I know it has to do with genetics, but my brother is so much dumber than me(not trying to brag or anything... really) how can their be such a difference when the children are from the same parents?

I heard a real funny one the other day and i was the only one that laughed at it and all my friends thought i was a nut..her'es what it was...

I had just come from a library and i had gotten a DOS book
and my friends which are potheads (that makes it even funnier) Said to me "hey man what book ya got there"
(takin a hit after he asked) and they all looked at it and said "DOS?" and i said "yeah DOS" and hahaha they said "You trying too learn spanish?" and i told em "yeah this is the second level of spanish! haha" you know "UNO", "DOS" "TRES".

But when i explained to them that DOS means "Disk Operating System" , i could have slapped them silly with a feather
by there reaction.

Then one of them sayes "Oh yeah thats right bro..you do that computer stuff huh? (taking another hit) and i said "yeah" then he says "Oh yeah thats right...i remember now"...and then he says sarcasticly "hehe marijuana does nothing to me." hahaha yeah sure it doesnt.

Just like a shotgun blast to your balls doesnt make your sperm alittle "weak" hehehaha!

Yeah, I heard that a lot. One day, I was doing the lunch hour of the Help Desk guy, and I receive an email asking for help... it said "There is no LAND on the 2nd floor"... man, why so many people add the D to the "Local Area Network".

And, we all know that NIC stands for "Network Interface Card", so I wonder why, people keep saying "I have to buy a NIC Card" ... It's just me, or there is some redundancy on that?

In a part of the building where I work, an incoming work item will arrive and some will not be due to be completed for a month or more.

These work items with a "future date" go into a cupboard and pulled out when they're supposed to be done.

The people there insist on calling this the "future date -abase". Not because it's a play on words, but because they're STUPID! They just merge words that sound vaguely the same together to create a word that they recognise, regardless of whether it applies or not.

It wasn't until I came to map out the interface for this "system" that I realised it was a bloody cupboard!!!

I empathise with all of you. Really stupid people annoy me. Sometimes I just want to rip their head off, tip out the (few) braincells within and use it as a vase.

What gets me is when you try to explain the most basic concept to people (relativity theory - or something equally mundane) and they argue with you. Not a structured argument mind, but just blind refusal to accept what you're telling them.

OK then lads, i think you are all being a little intolerant, and besides which, do you really think that you are the pinnacle of human intelligence?

How many of you could write me an algorithm to insert and delete items, and traverse the items in a balanced tree of sort order 2. How many of you could even tell me what one is, and how it works?

How many of you could cut someone's hair properly, lay a patio or repair a car. Just because you don't know how to do any of these things, doesn't make you stupid. It is just that you have not studied, or practised in these professions.

I think you are right on that one, we can't blame non-IT employes for not knowing technical stuff. But every time I hear that "NIC Card" thing, something in my mind just translates "Network Interface Card Card"... and then I go to a loop with the "Card Card" part... and I figure myself hiting their heads with the dam card over and over again... telling them "card card card card!"...

I have no problem with people not understanding what I do. It's expected. I've done it all my life and they've been doing something completely different.

As you will have noted by my previous reply it's people who don't know what they're on about and try to make out that they, and those that use stuff they half know as fact they really irritate me.

It's REALLY stupid people that annoy the hell out of me. People so stupid they have intellectually hit rock bottom and are actively showing signs of starting to dig.

I think it all boils down to you perception of things.

I don't think it is if you are stupid or intelligent.

Common sense plays a big roll as well.

I don't see myself as an intelligent person.
I do see myself as someone with a lot of common sense.

Anyone can do anyone's job, it not that you may be more intelligent than someone, OK some people learn quicker than others.

It also helps if you have an interest in what you're doing as well.

Take me for instance.

I know absolutely nothing about cars. I mean nothing. (With the exception of driving and changing a wheel). Things I have probably said to a mechanic in the past have probably made me look like a prime plonker, but that doesn't mean I am stupid an djust because the mechanic may no nothing about computers doesn't make him stupid.

Also you don't have to know everything to be considered intelligent.

There was a story about Albert Einstein.
One of his frieds asked him if he had the telephone number of another close friend. Albert went to the phone directory and started looking for it.

The friend asked him, Albert you can't tell me you don't know his phone number (being Albert Einstien). Albert replied why should I lean something when I can find it some where else.

The think the main reason for so called stupidity is due to the lack of attention and listening.

i mean ****....why is there a sign on the floor of mecdonalds that says "wet floor"?? people cant see that the floor is wet by seeing the water on the floor??

is that too much to ask?? oh yeah nevermind...i forgot, the reason they put that sign there was becasue of the many kids and ADULTS who come running into the restaurant at about 25mph and then slip and fall and break there neck.

British Telecom in the UK apparantly hold the Patent for Hyperlinks and are going through court at the moment to see if they can get royalties off every one who uses them.

Apparantly they patented the idea in the 70's

It is impractible for BT to sue everyone, how many people have web pages ? So they are going to try and get money out of the actual ISP's.

I think we are so used to answering challenging computer questions here, and in the workplacee, you get frustrated that people are taking your time to answer such an easy question. But Im sure if they asked me something about anything other than computers, I'd pretty much be stumped.
