I feel I must appologise for the conduct of my country during the war...
Should the citizens of a country share in the responsibility of the actions of their government abroad?
Everything I say is either loose interpretation of dubious facts or idle speculation rooted in irrational sentiment.

No everyone should blame everything that happens on someone else

Whether we want to be or not, we are a part of what makes up our country, but I'm not sure how much responsibility for apologies rests on the individual.
I mean Bush is a moron and I didn't vote for him, but I'm a part of the system that got him elected. So when he wastes billions of dollars chasing one guy who he'll never catch and ends up making us all look like *******s, I guess I'm a part of that too. But I'm not going to apologize to the rest of the world for it because I've been against it all along. That is I'm against chasing after Bin Laden individually having no clue what we're doing. I'm not against stepping up actions against terrorists in general.

of course he is a moron. If he was any smart, would he be taking part in charity walks and bake sales when his country needs his (although very limited) mental capacity directed at advancing the war at ALL? I don't believe he has spent 15 consecutive minutes in the war room.

I don't think that makes a difference. A president doesn't need to be a general. GWB in the war room would be like the janitor telling you how to write code.

I think that in a democracy, the people share more of a responsibility for their government's actions than those living in a dictatorship.
I think that those of us who live in a democracy should give more thought to our government's actions abroad. Afterall, they are acting on your society's collective behalf.
Everything I say is either loose interpretation of dubious facts or idle speculation rooted in irrational sentiment.

I've thought about it. What now?
Gentile or Jew,
O you who turn the wheel and look to windward,
Consider Phlebas, who was once handsome and tall as you...

People do share a responsibility for their government's actions, but past actions? I'd say no to that one.

They're acting on their own will, we just voted them into power. And it's their job to convince everyone that they're acting on our behalf, whether we agree or not.

The pig on Big Brother is allowed to vote.
Am I supposed to take some responsibility for the actions of a government that can be elected by numpties like that.
For Gods Sake! even my wife is allowed to vote.

They act on your behalf and whether you like it or not, you will be tarnished by it if their actions are bad. When you go abroad, you will have to face attitudes of people that have been shaped by your governments actions.

Damn liberals giving the women the vote................. look at the trouble it's caused. Every Aussie woman thinks John Howard is a stud muffin, and he gets elected. Thank god Jamman isn't an aussie, he would be president by now....
