    Which java tool can I use to do basic things like compiling without doing it in "dos". I once used an editor called TextPad, but it doesn`t seem to work anymore. Does anyone have any tips?

    Try

    This web site... http://www.tek-tools.com and download the "kawapro" thingy...it has a similar look to vc++ but not totally...also look in the other threads here ,there are other sites that have been posted about this subjected.
