G8 week.

Bloody security everywhere. Signing in and out of buildings. All the windows down town boarded up. Beggars everywhere, (Millions of the blighters). Concrete blocks in-front of all the buildings. All the sky-walkways closed (you can cross the entire downtown staying inside normally, but now you have to go outside, which isn't so bad except it's freakin' 30 degrees C out there). Cops everywhere. Army helicopters everywhere. Kananaskis closed , We've all been warned to wear scruffy clothes to work next week as people in suits / corporate wear might be targeted.

Sorry, but this is a pain in the butt. I respect people's rights to protest, and I have nothing against the peacefull one's, but everyone's expecting riots (again). Why don't they hold the G8 up here in the middle of winter. I'd like to see these buggers riot when it's thirty degrees below and 4 foot of snow everywhere.

I'll keep you posted on event's. First big march is today, hopefully there won't be any trouble.

And where did all the beggars come from? Usually there's a few down town, now there's 3 or 4 every block.

Everyone I know who works downtown has either been given the day off work tomorrow, or has taken it off. So basically it's going to me on my ownsome in the office. So if you're watching the news and you see one guy being chased through the streets of Calgary by 10,000 rioters, that'll be your good ole friendly neighbourhood SurfDemon.

Ah, thanks for the pointer. But...why exactly are people protesting this? I'm not a big fan of governments, especially when eight of the damnable things get together, but I shouldn't think it's that big of a deal.

We were going to have one of those big protests here in good ole Brisbane agains CHOGM last year, but some ******* flew a plane into the WTC and got the thing cancelled. They held it on the Sunshine Coast later, but there was more security than protesters then.

The only good thing to come out of the whole damn Sept 11 thing.
