    Internet connection sharing

Hi all, we've got a small LAN at home, i'm accessing the net via another computer. All was well, until i tried to play a game called Netstorm (remember that classic!). I cannot host anygames because it says i'm behind a firewall. How can i set up the correct port, or do whatever i have to do, to let the firewall send and recieve the game data?

some games wont let you host if you are in a netwrok
the solution: plug yourself directly into the internet, no routers, no via routes, etc.

It looks like the game does let me, but it's waiting for data, but isn't getting any. Is there not a way to send the data from the port that the game uses straight to my computer, ad visa versa?

BTW, i'm using XP Home ed.

so the machine you are connected to (the server so to speak) does it have a firewall on it?

You need to find out what port the game runs on and then disable that port in the firewall!

The port number should be on the games website!

I don't actually have a firewall. I know in XP there is the option to enable it, but i've never seen it before, so havn't turned it on. The only think that looks like it may be of some use, is the 'Services' in the settings button, of the internet gateway. In there is a list, containing stuff like msmsgs .... TCP, Remote desktop etc. I tried adding one for Netstorm, but it didn't seem to work.
