Alternative Storage Mediums
Alrighty. I havent done anything wierd with my PC (other then use it as scratch paper), so I was wondering what kind of drive I could add to my computer? What kinds of removable storage mediums are out there that I could get? List em! =).

What about one of those memory sticks? I think they're 100, 200, 400MB, and they plug into the USB ports. They just appear as another drive and you perform normal win operations on it.

now they are getting more popular the price of DVD writers is quite good (in the UK you can get a drive for under £300, blanks for <£1.50, and re-writables for <£20!)

You can use a MP3 player with harddisk. Here in Holland i've seen 1 with 6GB harddisk which can play Mp3s and be used as external removable harddisk. (At the size of a normal DiscMan)

5.25" Floppy (or try to find an even older one)

Get these: Mozilla Opera OpenBSD
I have books for sale: "MCSD in a Nutshell" and "VB Distributed Exam Cram" - PM me for details. Will also trade for a decent ATX Pentium 2 MB/CPU/RAM combo.

You could also try the Flasdiscs. I don't know if Mendhak means the same, but they come in 32, 64 or 128 MB formats and need a special reader, connected through USB. They can fit into some cellphones and a lot of MP3 players have a slot for them. But I know they're quite expensive: a 128 MB card costs about €169 (about $160 I think).

Well, I took a pair of scissors to a standard CD-RW, and made (yes, made) a CD that would fit into the smaller tray in your CD Drive. I burned to it, and it worked =). Unfortunatly, I also gave it a good scratching with the huge file I used to try and smooth the edges out, so the last bit of the zip file (165 megs) I burned wouldnt read, but it worked.
Just thought Id share =).

For some reason I go through 3.5 floppy drives like crazy (about 2 a yr) but I have this old brown combo 3.5/5.25 and it has lasted forever. I guess they just don't make them like they used to.

You want to do weird and cool stuff? Get into case modding.
Alternatively go dual monitor...
As for removable storage, CDRs are the best, if you don't have one get one..
I'm bringing geeky back...

I've seen ISA to PCMCIA adapters - card goes in ISA slot, PCMCIA slots go in 5.25' bay.

Case modding is so... Mainstream =). Id rather do something odd that has function =).
I did Dual Moniter for a while (its quite nice), and I still have the second moniter right here, but I took the second vid adapter out.
I do enjoy CDRs, as well as being able to mod my CDs (see above post =).

Sticky Tape
I heard once that some scientists at Oxford University had developed a way of storing data on a roll of sticky tape...
Really, this is true.

Hmm...
Install a CD changer - but get a realistic looking robot arm that pops out of the top of the case and changes the discs for you.

I would like to do a case mode this summer, either add a 120mm blowhole to the top of my case or an 80mm over my CPU so i can duct a fresh source.

Will the blow hole shoot water, like a whale =)?
Actually, I think a cool case mod would be like those table top fountains that you can get... the water would sort of trickle down the sides of your case. That would rock!
