ok. i try to add an inet or winsok component to a form and i get this: (although i do get the little inet picture in the toolbox)
License information for this component not found. You do not have an appropriate license to use this functionality in the design environment (Error 429)
the vb help says i have to reinstall the activex control.
is this correct? and if so how do i do it????
please help. any help is appreciated!

Its because you have Visual Basic Learning Edition, you cannot use Internet Controls in that edition, but you Can Go To http://www.catalyst.com and download their free SocketWrench Control.

Not sure if this'll work, but you could try downloading this fix for it.
Register Winsck.ocx & Inet.ocx - Files included!

That is Illegal, unless you truly lost the license information and you have a Professional, or Enterprise version of VB(this happened to me once, had to reinstall ).

Yeah, but most people have this problem. All it does is add some information to the registry so that you can have use of the MSInet.ocx and MSWinsck.ocx .
I had this problem myself, but now its all fixed and having use to Internet Controls really comes in handy.
But I don't think it will work for HAVocINCARNATE29, because as you said, Visual Basic Learning Edition doesn't let you have use of Internet Controls.

I downloaded it because I had the same problem and I wanted to use Inet and Winsock so I searched and found the patch on http://www.planet-source-code.com . No one has caught...hold on, the cops just pulled up...hehe, just kidding.
I don't think so. All it does is add some information to the registry to allow you to have use of Internet Controls.

Okay, let's put it this way, I gave the link, I didn't tell HAVocINCARNATE29 to download it. It is his choice to download. (DISCLAIMER kind of thing)
But I assure you that a lot of people have this problem and will do anything to fix it since they want to have use of Internet Controls. I don't know why this problem occurs, do you? When you install Visual Basic, isn't it suppose to register the OCX? Mine did not register it and I wasn't able to place it on the form without it saying "Liscence not found." So I found a fix for the problem.
Why should it be illegal anyway? If you buy VB, the controls should be included as well and work. There is a fix for it as well on the Microsoft site as well.
Code:
Component List Ent Pro Lrn CCE
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Microsoft Data Bound List Control X X X
Auto Connection Manager (AddIn) X X
Microsoft Tabbed Dialog Control X X X
Microsoft Winsock Control X X '<-fix
Microsoft Comm Control X X
Microsoft RemoteData Control X
Microsoft Common Dialog Control X X X X
Microsoft Data Bound Grid Control X X X
Microsoft Windows Common Controls (1) X X X X
Microsoft PictureClip Control X X
Microsoft Flexgrid Control X X X
Microsoft Internet Transfer Control X X '<-fix
Microsoft Chart Control X X
Microsoft MAPI Controls X X
Microsoft Windows Common Controls (2) X X
VB T-SQL Debugger (AddIn) X
Microsoft UserConnection
(ActiveX Designer) X
Microsoft Remote Data Object 2.0 X
Microsoft Multimedia Control X X
Microsoft Masked Edit Control X X
Microsoft Rich TextBox Control X X
Microsoft SysInfo Control X X
Data Access Objects 3.50
Object Library X X
Microsoft has a fix for a whole bunch of controls, and then someone else came up with a fix for only the Winsock and MSInet controls.
Well, anyway, I hope you get my point.
