For the status bar problem, try opening from the desktop, then closing the first window (and all other IE windows, minus the new one) Reset all the properties on the new window to the way you want them (turn the status bar on) then close it. The next time you open one, it should be correct.
I've had this problem before and doing this always works for me. Maybe it's the same thing?

Yeah, I'm starting to like Opera, but it doesn't connect to .Net webpages and it shows Tables really weird like.
I would use Opera more often, but the habit of opening Internet Explorer is to strong.

An intriguing thing for you.
If you have an IE window open, and subsequently go to taskbar properties and clear your Recent Documents folder, all the IE windows lose their titles and revert to the URL

Oh, btw I use Mozilla and IE pretty much interchangeably.
I use IE for browsing the forums since it picks up all the web links from Outlook (I want it that way, it's more predictable with other software) and Mozilla for normal web use

Win9x is a generalization to denote Windows 95/98/ or ME. In my case, it's ME.
