    Installation package could not be opened: error

    Hi, I am trying to install .NET on my windows 2000 machine but when I click on the install icon I get;

    'The installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer package'

    Weird thing is that I have installed .NET on my old machine which was running 2000 so the CD seems to be AOK

    Any help appreciated

    hmm..try going to microsoft.com and find and isntall the latest MS Installer (msi). Then try again..
