Is it possible to use vb .net or anything else for that matter to automate the login to a web site?

ex:
Is it possible to have a .net (or any app) log me in to my hotmail account? If my username/password were in my code, is it possible to write a prog. that will open hotmail.com or some other site and enter/submit my user name and password?
