    Wink

I had a glass of soda and a glass of orange juice sitting
next to each other on the floor in my room today (i know it sounds weird but anyway..) and i was in a big hurry this morning and forgot to drink it or get rid of it, so then when i got home i noticed there was all these ants all over the glass of soda but none of em even touched the orange juice!!?

Both drinks have sugar in them, why were the ants being picky??

    I guess it's the caffene .

Sounds retarded but then again makes ya wonder?

    See ya.

    yeah, thats my problem,

if theres 2 things, for example

    soda and water
    soda and gatorade
    soda and OJ

naturally you are going to pick the thing that tastes better.... (soda)

    Actually its quite simple....

The Soda contains simple carbohydrates as well as lots of nitrogen (hence the bubbles) and as ants find their way through a sense of smell rather than sight they go for the Soda.

They leave the orange juice alone because it is also high in ascorbic or citric acid which is not very nice to ants.

I cant remember where I heard this, but I read somewhere that if you crush Fire Ants, and leach them, you get Ferric acid.....
you would have to be mighty determined to find and crush That many ants! hehehe

Soda is carbonated water... but I am pretty sure the use nitrogen to get it in there.

    Hi,
After working behind a bar for over 5 years, I can tell you that it is definately CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) that goes into the soda!

    Just to point it out

N2 isn't dangerous at all, It's Inert (doesn't react with anything) It's because it's so inert that it's used in Explosives.

When you force nitrogen to bond with something it wants out, it will replace itself with oxygen very readily. It's because it's so easy to persuade it to replace itself and it replaces itself so quickly (fast reaction = explosion) that it's used in explosives, on it's own it's completley harmless.

70% of the atmosphere is nitrogen, if it exploded we'd all be in trouble.
