Beginning Direct X
Before I start off, which should I learn, DX7 or 8? Are there any recommend tutorials on the net?

It depends a lot on what you are most interested in. If you want to work in 2D, then go for DX7, because you have DirectDraw. If you want to work in 3D, then I recommend 8, because you will be able to take advantage of newer hardware advances, and such (it is also a bit simpler to work with).
There are probably thousands of tutorials floating around out there, but, since you are going to be working in VB (I assume), then I have to recommend http://www.directx4vb.com for tutorials. They are simply the best written that I have ever found, in VB or C++ (which is what you will find most tutorials in).
If you choose either DX 7 or 8, there are tutorials at the site above. Good Luck!
