Fonts
Don't know where to put this, so I'll plonk it here. How do you make your own fonts?

Monday Morning Lunatic
There are programs such as Fontographer, or slightly more affordable alternatives such as FCP from http://www.high-logic.com

And be prepared to enter world of new terminology, dominated by Graphic Artsists, not Computer Techies.
I use fontographer from MacroMedia, it works just fine. But it has a Mac interface ported to Windoze because a majority of the user base Mac people. Same idea as using any Adobe product - PhotoShop comes to mind. The cursor behavior, and a lot of stuff looks like Quark. Plus it has dozens of cryptic icons.
Also stick with TrueType fonts only. Words'o'Warning.
Font conversion is also fraught with interesting 'artifacts'.
They don't abbreviate Fontographer as FOG for nothing.

It's actually for my boyfriend, he's designed his own font, but doesn't know how to make it
