Make exe with icon from resource file

Newbie here: I have been able to add a resource file to my VB project and see the icons inside the my .exe file after it is compiled. However the default icon is still the standard VB icon, how can I make it so that when I compile the exe it uses one of the other icons from the resource file as it's default icon.

An afterthought: I have seen how to set the default icon to the one used by the form of a project but my project does not have a form. I would like to know of a way to programatically assign an icon from my resource file.
