It actually borders on pathetic.
and it's one thing for members to choose not to show up,
which is bad enough. It's another for the church to also "agree"
that a friggin soccer match would be more important than God.
now if it was hockey I could see what they were talking aboot...

You a bowler Gaffer? That's also a nice "sport" that gives a reason to be drinking all night.
I'm thinking my comments were not directed to people who either don't go to church or
only go when mom comes to visit. It was more a shot at the church itself and those
who just go to maintain the appearance that they lead a christian life or such.
Though I suppose I have no room to talk, being a godless pagan heathen.
... where did that virgin sacrifice go anyway?

Not that I want to stick up for these people but I don't see what's wrong with being flexible. Why does prayer and worship have to be held at exactly the same time each week/day?
Religion shouldn't get in the way of life, it should compliment it and I heartilly applaud these people...
By the way, why didn't you post this in the other forum...?
Everything I say is either loose interpretation of dubious facts or idle speculation rooted in irrational sentiment.

I don't think that God (as far as Christians are concerned) said we had to pray at any particular time of day. I mean, let's face it, they couldn't even tell the time with much acuracy back then anyway.
And the thing is, the football's on at a set time. You can pray anytime.
