I got this game a little more than a week ago for my new XBox.

Halo is AMAZING!!!

Graphics are awesome! Tons of detail - The trees have individual polygons for each branch. Shoot a branch and leaves will fall. In level 4, you can hear cicadas(Those loud flying insects in summer). It's got one of the most realistic FPS physics engines ever - Shoot for long distances and the bullet's altitude decays! When people talk in the game, their mouth's move. The people meshes have individual fingers and joints on their hands(Unlike block-handed people on other games). On some levels you can even see individual blades of grass. The explosions and fires are realistic... Oh and did I say that the rumbler in the controller pack GREATLY enhances the feeling? WOW. There are few dissadvantages - 1) No simulants and such(Ever played Perfect Dark?) - 2) Although it's an AMAZING game with GREAT graphics, I think that Bungie was rushed and therefore couldn't include the detail they wanted.

If you get one game for XBox, make it Halo!

i can't get GTA3 to run stably for more tahn 30 seconds or so...but neither can half of the people who have the game.

Same here. I can only run GTA 3 with good graphics for about 10 minutes and then it starts messing up the whole graphics. I can see some polygons not joined together and they have any texture. It's probably because of my CPU and Video card because the whole game runs slow on my PC anyways. Time for me to upgrade...

Halo is incredible! My boyf has it. Multiplayer is cool! My fave weapons have got to be the plasma weapons. The needler is cool. Oh yeah, I love the rocket launcher too

no offense, but I got halo and I finished it and I can tell you that it was the most stupid game that I have ever played in my life
I dont like the design of the game, story and any thing of it at all!! (I agree that the graphics are good though)

i have a Tbird 800, 448MB RAM, and GeForce 2 Ti. Its smooth but it crashes like mad...

i gotta be gone in 20 seconds with those damn cars or i crash

GTA3 runs great for hours on mine, but the frame rate isn't amazing on my GF2 GTS. I clock it to 205/392 just to run GTA3

Upgrading Detonator XP drivers to latest helped a bit actually, you might wanna try that if you haven't already. Also, i run it at 800x600x16 because after an hour or so 1024x768x16 starts to get really laggy

surely there's no patch for it already?! If there is, let me know where!

I actually liked the storyline. Very creative!

SPOILER[CUT HERE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT]:
A collective of 4 alien races (The Covenent) attacks a human outpost planet(Planet Reach). The only surviving ship is the "Pillar of Autumn"(4km, but concidered a "Small" cruiser). In order to lead the Covenent away from Earth, the Pillar of Autumn makes a blind jump and ends up close to a ring world created by the "Forerunners", circling a gas giant. The Covenent armada of 12 cruisers engages the P of A which disables 4 of them. Cortana, the ship's AI is uploaded into the "Master Cheif's" suit before he escapes. Captain Keyes then crashes the P of A into the 10,000km diameter ring.

Level2: You basically just have to find the rest of the P of A's crew that crashed in "Lifeboats". You then find that the Covenent have secured the P of A's crash site and have taken hostage the survivers of the command crew(Incuding Keyes) onboard the "Truth and Reconciliation", a disabled Covenet cruiser.

Level3: You break through Covenent ground defences and get into the cruiser via a gravity lift. You rescue Captain Keyes and the surviving command crew and get out of the cruiser on a Covenent dropship

Level4: The Covenent talked about a "Silent Cartographer". It's a holographic map of Halo. You attempt to get to it, but the Covenent lock the doors. Then you need to look around and find the security override. Return to the entrance to the silent cartographer's chamber and travel ~200meters downwards. The cartographer(The map) then shows you where the entrance to HALO's control center is. You get back to the surface where Foehammer(Your dropship) carries you underground via a topside passage.

Level5: Basically, you work your way through different chasms and pathways and find Halo's control room. You plug Cortana into the control room and she starts talking. Then she pauses as she realises that Halo is a weapon. Keyes was sent on a mission and Cortana tells you to stop him and hurry.

Level6: You are in a swampy area and work your way underground to the Captain's last reported position. Once you enter this one sealed room, you find a holo-tape and view it. It was from one of Keyes's men. They were attacked by some very disturbing looking creatures. They attack you next and you have to find a way out. When you go to where you came from, the elevator falls and collapses. You find another route, meet up with some marines and go outside to a tower where Foehammer can pick you up. Before she does, a floating blue orb teleports you onto the tower. "Greetings. I am monitor of Installation zero-four. I am 343 Guilty Spark. Someone has released "The Flood"."... Mr.343's an idiot, you'll read why...

Level7: The monitor takes you through a maze of passages in what is called the LIBRARY(But... no books - Just an INDEX). You must find the INDEX to activate HALO, all the while flood are chasing you. This is a difficult level.

Level8: The monitor teleports you to Halo's control center. You take the Index and insert it into the holopanel. The control room lights up, then dies... Cortana appears and pisses off the monitor because she took the index and stored it in her arrays. He takes his sentinels and tries to kill you... You need to work your way around while Covenent AND the Flood AND the Sentinels are chasing you in order to disable 3 pulse generators to temporarily disable Halo. Afterwards, Cortana teleports you and herself onto a heavily damaged cruiser.

Level9: You are now on a damaged Covenent cruiser and have to try and make you way to Captain Keyes who tells you to go back. You fall down a large crack and then have to get onto the gravity lift while both Flood and Covenent are attacking you. Once you get back on the ship and on the ship's bridge, you see an infested Captain Keyes (He is now a flood and is dead). You punch his face and grab his CNI(Command Neural Interface) for the Pillar of Autumn. You then escape via a Covenent Banshee

Level10: The Maw... Why is it called the Maw??? You crash land your banshee into the side of the Pillar of Autumn and get inside through a lifeboat airlock. When you get on the bridge, you activate the self-destruct sequence for the P of A's Fusion reactors. You find that the monitor is back and he disables the count down. Sentinels attack you and then you get into engineering. You open each of the exhaust manifolds for the reactors and fire rockets into them. The result is a "Wildcat destabilization of the engine core". You get to an elevator and have 6 minutes before the reactors blow. You get in a jeep and drive 2km in your ship. Foehammer comes to pick you up, but is shot down by 2 Covenent Banshees. You now have whatever time is left on the clock to drive another 1.5km to a bomber in the docking bay. You escape the bay in the bomber.

Finish: You escape and the P of A goes critical and explodes, destroying Halo by fracturing it into many pieces. The credits roll and then the monitor is seem flying into the screen from the debris...

Legendary ending(Corny and stupid): If you beat "The Maw" on legendary, I hear that you get a special ending. The black (sorry if it sound's racist) general guy(Forget name...) is seen fighting a Covenent Elite with fists. They punch eachother and then they seen the P of A go critical in the distance. They hug(I thought it was wierd when I hear this!) eachother and then are ripped apart by the force of the reactors going critical. I heard this ending from a friend today. Anyone care to confirm???

If you actually watch all the cutscenes then you find that there could POSSIBLY be more than one HALO. 343 Guilty Spark(The monitor) yaps on... "This installation has a maximum effective range of 25,000 lightyears. Together with the rest of our network we could destroy this entire galaxy. The galaxy would be quite free of life. You did know that, didn't you reclaimer?"
Whatever you say, I recommend it and I am DEFINITELY getting HALO 2.

433MHZ Celeron, 325MB RAM, and 8 MB Intel Graphics Chip...I guess I deserve the slow frame rate I am getting.
I can still play pretty good if the weather is clean and I drive in a first person view or a fast car.
BTW, have you tried flying the Dode plane yet? Damn just tried it for like 1 hour and always crash after like 30 seconds of flying.
