No offence to anyone on these forums, but I think MS Visual Studio/Visual Basic, is also holding a piracy record.

Maya Personal is free for download at here, but system requirements is Win2000 or above and 512MB RAM.
Maya Personal Learning Edition
U can also order Softimage CDs for free here. Softimage is another 3D editor software. It made its software available for free after aliaswavefront releases a edition of Maya for free in Feb this year.

Maya's old price was about $16,000 for the "Ultimate" version of it
...now it's down to $8,000

This is not a demo software, so shouldn't have any time limit, I believe.
You can find out more on the link I gave u.
I downloaded Maya and installed, Maya refused to run(prompt a msg of insufficient memory) as I only have 256 MB.

Does anyone know a free version for Win98? There must be something, 'cause Maya was there long before Win2000 came out.

First of all... Maya ONLY works with NT based systems so if you have 98, you can kiss maya good bye!
Second, the free Maya version is REALLY gay because it has HUGE text over the view panels to protect itself from screen captures and all that...
and what's even worse is that the text rotates in different diretion so it makes it harder get rid of it
Other than that, it has a few other limitations...
