Haka...
How many different Hakas are there?
I'm curious, because I've heard a song that claims to be a haka (on the Once Were Warriors soundtrack), but the words aren't any 'standard' haka I can find. It's definately not the all blacks haka, and some army ones I found aren't it either...

Don't spose you've heard the one on that CD? It sounds like Temuera Morrisson, but in the movie he isn't a Maori, so I'm curious. Of course, it might not be...
I think the track credit is to Kalalau or something. (I believe the word is a type of short flute, maybe made from a conch shell...)

Bit confused then rj didn't Temuera Morrison play Jake the mus ...
Sorry to the America members, this is a kiwi film, hence foreign and most of you wont have bothered seeing it. Those planning on making the effort should avoid taking ppl who are easily shocked ... displays realistic domestic violence....
Those wanted to read the book
Once Were Warriors by Alan Duff....

Yeah, but in OWW, Jake the Muss has a big 'thing' because his wife is Maori descended, and he is slave descended. It's one of the big issues that comes up. He thinks all her relos hate him cause he's not good enough for her. He's not Maori, as best as I remember.

So what exactly is Haka music?
I reckon I like the furniture, but I've not heard anyone sing songs about it.
Is it a south pacific style?
or more of an eighty's funk with a nintey's attitude with
a contemporary side that just makes you want to dance?

I think so. But true Ta Moko is a carved tattoo. Not just paint. They actually end up with ridges all over themselves, from knife cuts....

Hmmm... to forgive Wendell, or to continue hating Wendell, that is the question...
Lucky I don't give a rat's arse about the soccer then, since England trounced the Danes! And what the hell do ya think you're doin', bringing a poofy sport like that into a 'Haka' thread?
Shame, Jello, shame.

The soccer's alright though, rather enjoy watching some big nancy boy falling over and being carried from the pitch with a sprained toe nail or needing immediate hair combing......
Don't start on the soccer, you'll only go and upset Wally....

Well, that's an invitation if ever I heard one!
Soccer is a poonce sport with no honour, where the biggest cheats win. What a bloody joke. It's like watching the amateur wrestling, wondering why the ref can't see the chair in one guys hand! Bloody fool of a game.
