I ran across this and I thought it was a joke at first, but it seems to be WELL documented and has specific instructions. Let me know what you think!Microsoft's "Really-Hidden Files"

Sorry about the bad link......
Stupid forum language filter! Anyway the correct link is:
In the link below replace the asterisks with the "F" word.
http://www.****microsoft.com/content...en-files.shtml
This is a very interesting article.

What's the big deal about an index.dat file? It's just for history...

Well,........
Just the fact that stuff you supposedly deleted is stored in a file that you can't find and don't even know that it exists unless you know specifically where it is. Don't get me wrong, the freaks on that site are obviously anti-Microsoft and think there is some big conspiracy or something, but it good to know that that file exists. That file is useless unless you have something to hide, and somebody (Police, FBI, etc.) are searching your computer if you've committed some crime or something. Since this doesn't apply to 99% of users then it's no big deal. I actually think it's a good idea that a file like that exists. It only works with hotmail supposedly, but it logs all e-mail you send a receive. That is good for criminal cases (especially w/ terrorists) then they can see what someone's been doing. Anyway, maybe I've blown this whole thing out of proportion, but I found it trivial and interesting. I myself am not worried about these files! I just wanted some others views on this.

I have index.dat files all over my computer. Just setup your Windows explorer so that you can view all files. I don't see what the big deal is.
