What do the record companies expect? If they charge large amounts for their music, then people are gonna try and find alternatives to shelling out for it.
for example, in the UK, an average chart album now costs around £15. Hmmmm. Now, CD's cost about 10p to manufacture, probably say about £1 to ship to a shop, and then BAM! FOR SALE £15!
Why are these prices necessary? it comes down to one thing: PURE GREED on the record companies behalf.
When you're 16, you don't wanna be paying £15 for an album containing about 8 tracks. If the record companies don't want people using Napster, then they should re-think their own policies on music sales.
napster is an excellent service, and I hope they battle on and win the right to continue doing what they do: Providing an honest service that serves the music community well.
That's my opinion. other's welcome.
