I'm not sure if I'm the other gaffa, either, although you can subclass the listview and pop any control into the place of the listitem.

Problem is that I can't seem to find the sample code for it... it came from one of the sites at www.mvps.org (either Karl Petersons or Randy Birch's if my memory serves me correctly)
