Can VB provide the features and support as the Macromedia packages director and authorware provides...?

How flexible the VB in developing Multimedia or Games....

and IF i am thinking to develop a full fledge Mutimedia Application or a Game... Can i had to forgot VB and Try something like Director 8.5 or Authorware ?
