Re Ukraine, I'm not opposed to Trump talking to Putin, it seems like a necessary part of the process. The worry is that he spoke to Putin and then had Hegseth announce that Ukraine would not be able to keep it's sovereign territory and would not be allowed to join NATO, thus having no security guarantees in roughly 10 years time once Russia has rearmed. And that done before speaking to Zelensky or the rest of NATO. That is capitulation.
If Trump manages to negotiate a deal that sees future security for the people of Ukraine I will give him credit. But the "Master of the Deal" announcing that he's going to give an aggressor everything he wants before starting negotiations does not feel likely to produce that result to me.
