My new Home-theater (and an odd technical issue)

so anyway, yesterday, i sold both my imac and my laptop to a friend of mine then took the money and (almost) finished my home theater. This involved the purpose of a blu-ray player with bd-live, netflix, pandora, youtube. It also involved the purchase of 2 hdmi cables and a 32-inch lg lcd, and a 5-port switch since the blu-ray is ethernet connected, and i was already short a port in this room for the xbox.

I picked the lg for a couple of reasons, but the deciding factor (over a samsung that was cheaper) was the menu setup. It has two different ones and they both rock. but anyway...

so i hook everything up and connect my dvr. today my cable box quits accepting remote signals. Through experimentation i discovered it worked again if i disconnected the hdmi cable. It is interesting to note that the front panel buttons continued to work at all times.

Here's what happened: I turned the display to max-energy saving. For whatever reason, this affects the hdmi cable to the point that it affected my pace dvr. If i set the power saving to 50% there is no issue and everything works. This is the oddest thing i've ever seen...

Anyway this purchase gave me the following benefits:
I got rid of an input selector box as the tv has 5 inputs.
    i now have a 32-inch computer monitor
i can play blu-ray movies, dvds, netflix, and some web videos with the computer off (this is an issue: The computer has a 750 watt power supply and uses all of it. For example it has 5 hard drives in it)
Component speaker set no longer necessary
my desk is clutter free. The only thing on it is the monitor, bluetooth keyboard (sliding drawer), and optical air mouse with charging base.

I was actually using a notebook projector before, but it was a wiring nightmare.
