[Resolved]Belkin Router - firmware malfunctioning

I've just purchased a Belkin WIFI Router (model F5D8236-4) and within 11 minutes of getting it out of the box, the firmware has failed.

I did all the normal stuff, logging into 192.168.2.1 and I went to the "use as Access Point" menu... All went well, I changed it's IP to 192.168.2.254 as prescribed in the rather sparse notes that came with the router.

Anyway, at this point the router is no longer contactable ON ANY IP address at all. It's just disappeared. I've tried every IP address under the sun (via a script) and there's simply no response from the router at all. The lights are on but there's nobody home.

Ok, no biggie. I power it off and on again with the reset microswitch held down for 10 seconds. Now I can get onto the router but now the only page I can access is the "Firmware upgrade" screen.

*sigh* So I go to Belkin's website and download the current firmware for this device based on its model number blah blah blah...

This is where it deviates from the manual completely. Nothing happens when I upload the FW to the device. It doesn't show any signs of having done anything. I left it for an hour and still nothing. So I power cycle the router and I'm back to the firmware upgrade menu again!!!

This router has just become a £70 rock.

Has anyone got any clue how I can fix this?

Nevermind it's just this second decided it's going to cooperate again. I started doing random things with the reset button and power cable, It's letting me back into the normal config menu again.

Seriously, the manual for this thing was written my an imbecile, it says hold the reset switch down for 10 seconds, but it appears that is a lie. 20 seconds seems to work. Damn Belkin to hell.
