I want from the kids menu - Let them have it!
This really happened to me (SiLentThReaD), and I thought I share the pain, and success in article format.....
How to trick them into letting you order from the kids menu.
You can do this in some places where they take your order, give you your food, and pay at the same moment.
You can't really do this in restaurants, because they usually prepare the food at the same time.
I went to a local bread/sandwich eatery, and saw that they had a delicious peanut butter and jelly sandwich that was only available in the kids menu. I was also in the mode for a plain toasted bagel with butter. I ordered the bagel and the young lady cut, toasted it, and brought it over to the register. She asked me if I wanted to get anything else. And then I let her have it. "Yes, can I also get the kids peanut butter and jelly sandwich", I replied. She first expressed concern, but then looked down and noticed that she had already prepared a bagel for me, and that denying me food from the kids menu would probably cost her a bagel that I was not going to purchase. She then continued to put my order in, without giving me any resistance and without any required force by me.
Here is a perfect example on how to trick the system. It's unfortunate that we have to use tactics like these to enjoy the good foods in life. Not everybody wants shrimp, steak, etc. Many adults would prefer a tasty grilled cheese, jelly sandwich, or slice of pizza.
I hope this information can help folks like me, and I hope that one day restaurants like these decide to grow up and not segregate food items.
