For sure it started out bad...

Item 1)
Paris Hilton gets released in day 4 of her prison sentence to serve the remainder of her term in house confinement.

But... the Judge lets it be known that her release will be considered contempt of court. And as likely as the sun rises... she will be back in jail tomorrow night. Hooray.

Item 2)
The US Senate was for all accounts and purposes ready to pass an illegal immigration amnesty bill. But before dinner, it was shot dead in the water. A solid message from constituents informing senators that passing such a bill would not be forgotten in the next round of elections seemed to do the trick. Now we can go back to calling law breakers illegals instead of victims.

Wireless power transfer experiment launches us into the coming area of truly cordless laptops.

Item 4)
Bush states he will come on board with EU leaders on carbon emissions goals.

However, at the G8 summit, President Bush fools the EU into believing America's on board with their global containment and dictation policy visa vie 'carbon emissions' goals. "Sure, we'll agree to cut emissions by 2050 at some level to be predetermined in the future - if we agree to that level." I have to say - nicely done.

Item 5)
The media accentuate Putin's distress over US missile systems in the Eastern block and scream American imperialism. And after the summit? The cold war with Russia is still a midnight journalist's dream.

Item 6)
Bono took off those ridiculous glasses. If he had done that and dumped the ear ring, perhaps those world leaders would have taken him more seriously in the first place.
