I believe that if you were to take a stack of CDs (you need a large N), and start bending each one until it broke, you would find that if you bend in one direction, the CD will fold. If you bend in the other direction, the CD will fragment. This is because CDs are actually weapons. That whole AOL ad campaign was secretly financed by the NRA who had reason to believe that Clinton was intending to take guns away from people. Once W got elected, the ad campaign ended, because the NRA was more afraid that they might have to go hunting with Cheney.
Even now, all troops headed to Iraq carry stacks of CDs as emergency signal/fragmentation devices. The military found that CDs were lighter than Claymores, and were just as effective as long as they were bent in the right direction. Wall Street attempted to use the same thing to shatter the tech bubble, but they were trying to bend bank CDs, which were all FDIC insured, which meant that all they did was swell the deficit when they bent too far.
By the way, despite the fact that I wandered off into ramdom drivel, I seem to remember studying this just long enough to figure out that the first few sentences were true.
