I need a sort of 'diary' control
I have a customer who manages 'tours'. A tour is basically just a collection of events (which are actually examinations) that take place over period of time and which are logicaly grouped together for financial purposes.
I'm looking for a way of displaying a tour schedule to the user and to allow them to manage it to a limited extent (fine management will take place in other screens but they'll need to be able to access those screens via this view, move events around in the schedule etc).
the three biggest complications I've got to cater for are:-
1. It needs to work down to a quarter hour level but the tour could last for 3 or 4 months
2. Although events can't overlap on a finalised tour, they want them to be able to overlap while they're working out the schedule. It's unlikely that more than 2 or 3 items will ever overlap in the same time slot.
3. They want to display a reference and the exam teachers name for
Does anyone have any ideas on how I could present this on screen? Ideally I'd like a ready made control I can just pick up and use but failing that I'm open to general ideas on how I could present it and I'll implement it myself. I started by looking at the diary and calender views in outlook but maybe some kind of Gantt chart might be better.
