What would be more efficient an array of sockets vs a buncj of individual sockets ?

This is obvioulsy for multi downloads. Say you knew your max number of downloads at any one time was going to be 20. Would you be better off setting up 20 individual sockets or an array ?

What are the pros and cons ?
