I am working on a game project for a friend. He has a card game that was written in C++ that accepts TCP Connections and plays cards on screen... My job is to convert this App into something that is not platform dependent and that all they have to do is go to the website and its there for them to play... To me this screems Java Applets but maybe there is something better out there.. suggestions is what I am after here...

The program must accept logins for up to 4 people, it must track their status in the game, it must log their scores in a database... and in some point in the future I must handle account billing... but that can be done completely outside the applet for now....
