[Resolved]Port Problems
Ok, I have a two computer Network, WinXP Pro (client) and Win98SE (Server), with a shared broadband conn. I'm using Analogx's Proxy to share it.
On the client, I can use HTTP (and I'm assuming HTTPS) and FTP, but I cannot get Messenger to connect using SOCKS or HTTP. I updated Messenger, and it no longer works, along with Icq and Trillian. (installed afterwards)
I don't think its a proxy problem, as I can access HTTP on the client, and if I configure stuff on the server to go through the proxy, it works fine. Its not a Firewall problem, as I still have same problems when its down. But I don't know if its a port problem on the client either, as it can still do HTTP, just not on Messenger/ICQ/Trillian.
As far as I can tell, the settings in Messenger and co. are correct (6588 for HTTP and 1080 for socks).
This has me completely stumped. Any ideas on how I can fix it?
