If you are like me, you have been thinking about a major problem with the newest Visual Studio .NET version about to be released. The thought is 'Well I just purchased VS .NET 1.0 before I knew about Everett. Am I screwed when the next version is released and have to dish out another couple thousand dollars?'

For Visual Studio .NET 2002 customers who do not subscribe to MSDN or to a Microsoft volume licensing program, Microsoft is committed to providing an inexpensive path to "Everett." Registered users of Visual Studio .NET 2002 will be able to license "Everett" for $29 US, the cost of materials, shipping and handling, for a limited time after release.
This made me happy.

Those of you with pirated copies will of course need to redownload the whole thing from your favorite warez source.
