Producing XML reports that can re-populate a database.
Guys,
I am currently researching XML, since I intend using XML as a way of producing reports from a database application. I have found ways of producing XML from my database, and can convert it to HTML etc....
What would be really useful is this:
Is it possible to produce an XML document that can be emailed to someone? The document would be something like an order form, where the users details appear on the form (eg. address, contact name etc....). The order form would have to be some kind of converted XML (using XLST, for instance), so that it looked nice in a browser. The document would also have boxes for the user to complete, such as product code, quantity etc.... Entering data would update the underlying XML document. The user could then email the order form back to the source, and a routine would query the underlying XML, and update fields in the original database based on the new data.
Can it be done? If so, what it the best way?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Steve.
