LAN Questions
I've never had time before to mess about with networking but decided to start today. So I've got two PCs side by side, ethernet adapter in both with a cable in between. The problem? One runs Windows 95 and the other runs Windows XP and they don't seem to be fond of talking. Windows XP can make a setup file on floppy disk to install on every other computer you want networked together but when you try and run it on Windows 95 it says you need at least Windows 98 because 95 doesn't support all the features Windows XP can give that I don't want like sharing an Internet Connection. Before you suggest upgrade, it costs and the idea of this was to get large files off the old computer and wipe it's hard-drive and maybe upgrade it. Also the newer one with XP continues to say the cable is unplugged when it is clearly in the back of both computers.
Has anyone every linked 95 and XP before? Please any help!!!
