i have 3 rows called "xyz", i wanna pick one of these rows, how do i do that?

also, when im inserting, hwo would i check if that row already exists?

i ahve 2 tables, one holds names ands ids, the other one holds the id and extra info., so i wanna make sure i dont get dupes in the names.
