I've been listing my sites for months on all the major and a lot of minor search engines. My site never shows up in searches anywhere... not even at the tail end.

I've read everything I can find on it and follow the general rules to prevent my site from being excluded. For example, I don't use a lot of common words just to get listed and I don't have any hidden text. My keywords are specific to what the content of my site is and even some words that I put there just to have something unique to search for.

Hasn't worked. What am I doing wrong?
