Finding 'south' from the Southern Cross
SH question chaps..
When I was in the cadet corps at school a gazzilion years ago we were told we could find South by extending the long part of the Sn Cross 4 1/2 times and dropping to the horizon.
Lately I've been testing that and it seems accurate. But....
.. is the 41/2 rule related to my lat/long or ***?
