UNIX v. LINUX
I want to take a classes to learn some Linux, but all that this one place around my house offers is UNIX classes. Is there a huge difference between the two or if I learn some UNIX at the classes, will it apply to Linux aswell?

For the most part, yes. If the class is actually worth anything, though, you will find that it will instill a basic understanding of computers that will make transitioning to Linux or Windows very easy.
