I made this little program after reading a post on this forum (here)
Some one mentioned they wanted an invisible MP3 player that had no bells and whistles. I agreed totally - I can't stand winamp, it's far too feature laden. So I set about making the worlds smallest player and here it is.

criticize/comment on app.
Here is an updated version that includes the ability to select multiple files.
Let me know if you have any problems.
Dinz:
I'm not sure why nothing is happening when you click the icon. If you use the right button you should get a popup menu. If you use the left button you should get a file dialog.
I want to get it working perfectly before I will consider releasing the source, but suffice to say there is enough information on this forum to work it out.
No slaine this new version is also not working......mine is win98,sp6 doest it make the difference b'coz nothing happens with either clicks on the icon......did u tested ur app with other OS...what OS u r using
!!!NobodyisPerfect......IamNOBODY!!!
How's your wife and my kids?.....
Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level then beat you with experience!
Child says : Mummy mummy, can i play with grandpa ?
Mum says : NO, you have already dug him up twice.
I never realised there would be so much interest. If you people think it's worth it I will test it on multiple platforms and get it working on them all. But out of interest what OS's has it been used on so far - and did you have problems.
Also, bearing in mind I don't want to add useless functions to it, is there anything it really desperately needs?
Man, it seems like your app is doin nunthin.
Right now i'm using Win95, and the app just sits in the taskbar, and even if i click it (right button, left button, EVEN MIDDLE ) it won't open.
Used Ctrl+Alt+Dlt to exit it.
Right, I've just tried it on my laptop which has Windows ME on it and I am having the same problems other people have experienced. So presumably if I can fix it on ME it will work on 98.
Aha, I have now written some different code for the systray popop menu and it appears to be working fine on the ME machine. Will incorporate it into the MP3 player tommorow and upload.
lol, i love programs which are overladen with useless functions..i just love it when they crash my computer everyime i load them and they eat the ram and burn the cpu and everything spontaneously combusts into one big ball of white fire and smoke starts pouring out the sides of my computer and im screaming for mercy and then the fire travels along the cables and then the monitor explodes and shatters into one thousand pieces and then it hits the printer and the printer cartridge explodes spraying black ink all over the placce and my scanner dies and then the whole desk gets electricity conducting through the sides and then the mouse gets shocked to death and the keyboard turns glowing hot and the speakers are blowing up all over the place and..damn it i fire up vb and write a sleek little ****er like that amazing program you just wrote...good job!

Win2000, works like a charm
really desperately needs: (in my opinion anyway )
to save the last selection of files, so that I don't have to select them each time I start this great app.
to have a menu item load on startup true false would also be great (I could always put it in the startup folder, but its cooler if its an option in the app )
(u almost have a winamp without an interface now )
not bashing your app... it is pretty cool... but winamp is loaded with features... but non of which you have to use.. and you can minimize it to a tiny little bar and close the playlist and all that other stuff... when I use winamp.. i click on the icon open a song and it plays. The extra stuff is there if you want it.. so I don't see what the problem is with it??
If I click on the icon in the tray my entire computer goes crazy: The screen starts flikkering and blinking and about every 3 seconds there's a BEEP, like some loop is running but there's an error. It doesn't give any error messages, but after a while WIndows says there are few resources and ask if I want to shutdown your app. My OS is Win98 SE. Sorry.
Just working on a few things. I have now updated the popup code but like a damn fool left my Laptop (the ME machine) at home so can't test it. Hopefully some kind person on here can do that for me.
I also corrected a problem with the menu not dissapearing if you clicked somewhere on the desktop.
Now onto the other bits and bobs.
RE: Saving the last selection of files.
Where would you prefer to have this information saved? I can stick it in the registry or save it to a little file in the same directory as the app. Let me know which you would prefer.
This app is so cool.Takes up much much less ram than Winamp.
It works fine here, I am using ME.
Theres only one bug:I can play all mp3 songs except a song called Descent by Fear Factory.Kinda weird.
You did a really great job with this. A really quite nice replacement for WinAMP. Any chance you'll release the source? Do you do this entirely in VB, or something else?
