play a wav down the line
Can anyone give me some tips on how to play a wav or any sound file format down the telephone line.

I want to dial a number and send tones and a sound message.

Somebody must have done this before but I can't find any code tips on this.

Apart from some fun applications this has real world value on a commercial level too. My application is: I have a series of message boxes that I have to update each week. They are connected at play back to form a sequence.

i.e.
Message box one = "Hello, today's number is"
Message box two = "1234"
Message box three = "4527"

There are 8 message boxes the first one is allways played when a customer dials the information line followed by one of the remaining message boxes. Each day a different message box is played after the main one. Thus on Monday you might get "Hello, today's number is 1234" and so on.

To change these numbers I have to phone the system and record my voice down the line, which is a) time consuming and b) My voice is not great.

I want to build an app that can do the job for me - any help would be greatly appreciated.
