I guess this explains why AMD is stepping up in defense of MS. MS is promoting AMD over Intel.

Anyone have any links to a good comparision of the IA-64 and the x86-64 (and possibly the 64bit RISC chips out there)?

Can't say as I bother to read the community chatter at Slashdot, but it is a good place to find leads to tech headlines that actually matter.
The 64b AMDs may be impressive, but they are not the first 64b processors. And I don't have any problem with competition between AMD and Intel, so this move to abandon the IA-64 might not be the world's best, especially since Intel bought the Alpha processor from Compaq.
