TV crew harrassed for trying to prevent another Princess Di tragedy

    Queen Mother speed stunt

British police say they stepped in to prevent a television crew setting up a speed camera in front of the Queen Mother's funeral cortege.

A crew from the hit Channel 4 network's Banzai series, which specialises in gambling stunts, planned to ask viewers to bet how fast the hearse was moving as it drove away from Westminster Abbey after Tuesday's funeral.

Police intervened when officers spotted the crew on a road in West London, minutes before the cortege was due to pass on its way to Windsor Castle, west of the capital, for her interment.

A spokeswoman said: "They were given words of advice about their behaviour in relation to security and road safety."

"Property was temporarily confiscated but no criminal offences took place," she told AFP.

"No further action will be taken by police."

More than one million people gathered outside Westminster Abbey or lined the route of the cortege to Windsor after the Queen Mother's lavish funeral.

The royal matriarch, mother of Queen Elizabeth, died on March 30 aged 101, and her funeral was a spectacular pageant of pomp and ancient ceremony.

What exactly did they do that was deemed to be wrong? What has it got to do with 'security' and 'road safety' ?
