Child says : Mummy mummy, can i play with grandpa ?
Mum says : NO, you have already dug him up twice.

To find the temperature, do what Dinz said. I'd suggest an electric thermometer, they're more accurate. BUt don't use your palm. It'll singe you.
To find the voltage, I THINK it's in the chip documentation. theyr'e usually around +/- 12 volts.

um...actually there are sensors on most modern motherboards that measure the CPU temp, motherboard temp, fan speed, etc. for example, my current CPU temp is 42C, motherboard temp is 22C, and CPU fan sped is 7500rpm.

All new hardware monitoring devices use the SMBus to detect each devices' status. The SMBus is a serial bus designed mainly for devices inside the computer to communicate to each other.
What you are looking for would be DLLs that let you access the SMBus.
